The year is coming to a stand still.
Slowly but surely everything is slowing down, lessons are becoming the ‘last’ lesson for the year, final music exams are played, tests are done….. as everything is slowing down I feel relieved in a way….. time to slow down. Time to switch off. TIME TO TIME OUT.
With four kids I am thankful for this, I am thankful that each school year has an end and that we can get to a point where we can round things up. We work so hard all year, we rush around, I play taxi, and we push push push, so when I get to the end of the year I am so thankful that I FINALLY get to a point where we can all switch off and just be.
I am thankful for the end of each year!
I am thankful to all the people in my life and all the little spoils I get at the end of each year. I am thankful that I have people in my life that gives with such generations hearts and not just to me but to my kids as well.
We have been spoilt rotten _ and it’s not even Christmas yet! I am thankful that God spoils me through others and that He finds different ways to make me feel special. I am thankful for the time of giving, I am a giver, but also love presents and love receiving. These little spoils makes me feel extra special at the end of each year! ALMOST LIKE AN AWARD 😁
I am thankful for giving hearts around me and I am most thankful that GOD has blessed me with a giving heart.
I am thankful for holiday’s. I make a point to get away once every three months (every school holiday) and just go rest. Not everyone can do this, but everyone has school holidays every three months. I am so thankful for this.
School holidays help us slow down, it gives us a brake, it pauses the pace and it allows us to just gather all our “stuff” every now and again. I need holidays to energize myself for whatever is to come in the new term. I need time to switch off, sleep late, have no schedule and REST REST REST.
I am thankful that “our system” allows for this and I am thankful for my kids as well. THEY NEED THIS, WE ALL DO!
I am thankful for weekends!
I am so thankful that we get to rest every five days, even if it’s only for two days. I need this. I remember when the kids were smaller (before school) I thought it was hectic, but when Nika started grade one, things really changed and it was here when I started appreciating weekends.
Saturday’s are my pajama days (not that I stay in my pj’s) but it’s my rest day for the week. I can’t do this on a Sunday due to Sunday school but I am thankful that weekends allow us to slow down as a family.
I have such a busy life and with four kids it’s even faster and busier than normal, I NEED TIME TO SLOW DOWN. I need time to recharge my battery and yes every six days kind of thing ☺️. God is my strength but even God needed rest after six days of work, and I reckon if He needed that day, well then so do we.
Choose your day to rest and use it! REST….. TAKE TIME AND MAKE THE MOST OF IT.
There’s a time to work and there’s a time to rest.
Today I am thankful for rest. I am thankful that we can get to the end of a year and switch off, slow down and take time to just be instead of always rushing and running around.
I am thankful that I am blessed to take time away from the normal, I am thankful I have a place where we can go and just be together.
With four kids, a very busy husband, crazy routines, short nights and long days, I treasure holiday times the most. I make a point of always trying to get away, I live for these brake aways and make the absolute most out of it.
In this time away I always find myself still in front of God, it’s time I treasure with Him and I believe it’s here where He speaks most to me. It’s here where He fills my cup and blows new air into my lungs. I am thankful for the time I get with Him on these little trips we make.
God says in Psalm 46:10 – Be still and know that I am God.
I believe in this and I believe this is one of the keys to life. We need to make time, even if it’s only once a year to go sit at the feet of God and just be still. Just listen. Just be. I am thankful that I know this and I am thankful for all the transformations He makes in my life each time I am still with Him. Nothing in my way, no rush, no life noises, no schedule, no specific menu….. just me and Him – our time.
I treasure this and I am thankful I get to teach my children the importance of slowing down and watching sunsets.
