Urban African Bushveld In Jozi
We decided one day before our flight to Cape Town it was better to leave a day before. Our flight was very early and we had a two hour drive to the airport. I’ve never flown from Lanseria International Airport so I wasn’t sure where to stay and where exactly the airport was.
I used the Booking.com app and found a place that had awesome reviews and stunning photos, with the hope that it would be close enough I booked it.
26 Degrees South Bush Boho Hotel
We had to use Google Maps to get to the Hotel, but it took us straight to the entrance door without any problems. It was pouring with rain and dark already when we had to take the turn away from the main road onto a gravel road. Being in South Africa we felt a little uneasy, the thought “you can never be too sure” definitely crossed my mind. We passed two security gates and as we got closer to the third gate at the Hotel we saw Zebras and Buck on the side of the road. It was beautiful. I was amazed that we were in Johannesburg yet it felt like we were in the Bush.

We arrived to a beautiful building with a real African look and feel. I loved it. Reception was exceptional and everyone was happy and the vibe was good. Check in was quick and easy.
The inside of the Hotel was stunning to say the least. The attention to detail was something out of the books, like a Modern Africa. I almost felt guilty for my thoughts earlier when we turned on the gravel road.
The Room
As we walked through our hotel bedroom door I was super excited to see the oversized bed. It was a stunning room, spacious, beautifully decorated with a modern African theme. I loved the Shweshwe scatters to compliment South Africa. There wasn’t a bar fridge in the room but we had still water and Coffee/Tea in the room. There was adorable tiny biscuits in a mini jar just to add the cherry on the cake. Even the little dustbin in the room felt like African art as it was a masterpiece made out of wire.
The bathroom was clean and again had a dash of color to compliment bright Africa. My favourite was the shower curtain. Attention to detail where ever you looked and its these little things that separates an ordinary stay to a magnificent stay.
Night Cap
We went for a night cap at the bar before we went to bed. The bar was stunning, with so much to offer in the decor. Africa surrounded us with beautiful African street art.
We slept well and peaceful, with no noise issues and more than enough space.
Checking Out
Friendly staff assisted us when we checked out and we were out in no time.
We were greeted by giraffes in the road and that was so incredible. If you see the African sun rise and in front of you you see a Giraffe’s cross the road… it made my day. We loved every moment of this African experience and will definitely be going back there. I would love to take the kids, by far one of my favourite Hotels I’ve ever been too.
It explains our mixed cultures so well in the decor. Not too much, not over the top and very modern. Less to me is always more and although it wasn’t completely minimalistic, it wasn’t too much. I just loved it. I am one of those people who shops with my eyes, and this place is definitely soft of the eyes.
Overall Experience:
Our overall experience was amazing. Pleasantly surprised upon arrival and I will definitely go back. It was about a fifteen minute drive to the airport, but it was really early and there wasn’t a lot of traffic once we got back on the main road.
